SUMMARY:Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine Ride
DESCRIPTION:It’s a prison run…. to the Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine in East Granby\, CT.  This was the country’s first copper mine (1707) and the first state prison (1773).  https://portal.ct.gov/decd/content/historic-preservation/04_state_museums/old-newgate-prison-and-copper-mine. It’s currently a museum offering tours. Our route crosses into Massachusetts along some incredible roads\, where we will be grabbing lunch in Southwick before we jump across the border back into CT to visit the museum.  \n\n\n\nMeet at the Cross River Dunkin\, kickstands up at 9AM.

DESCRIPTION:The folks at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort have put together a group package\, which includes the room\, breakfast\, and dinner.  This will  allow us to eat as a group each night at the hotel overlooking the Delaware River.  The hotel has also set aside a safe\, paved parking area for our motors\, which will include a wash station.  \n\n\n\nEvent registration with Motomarathon can be done by clicking “RSVP” (Rider registration $100/rider). \n\n\n\nAfter RSVP’ing\, to book your lodging & meals package\, please make reservations directly with Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort by calling (570-424-4050).  Please let the  staff know if you would like to include the meal package.  For group discount\, please use “Motomarathon“.  Room and meal plan are paid directly to the Inn.  As with every event\, you are not required to eat with the group\, and you are also welcome to stay off property.

SUMMARY:Coffee Ride to Grizzly Bagels
DESCRIPTION:We join one of the coffee Rides from Tank of Coffee heading to Callicoon\, NY.  It is an early start from Dunkin at Cross River at 7AM.We expect it to take about 3.5 hours to get there putting our arrival around 10:30AM\, perfect to try some coffee & bagels. \n\n\n\nThe fast way back is about 2 hours\, so this is a long day ride of nearly 250 miles roundtrip.

DESCRIPTION:The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage styled motorcycle riders from all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. \n\n\n\nThe Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney\, Australia\, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic motorcycle and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.

SUMMARY:Intro to Wilderness & First-Aid for Riders 
DESCRIPTION:We spend lots of money on equipment for riding\, riders training\, trips and farkles. But when it comes to safety and first aid\, many people don’t even carry the basic first aid kit. Riders rely on their cell phones even when there may be no service and basic knowledge of their mini-GPS is lacking. Lots of times people on my riding team say\, “We have you Doc\, so we are good!” Well\, what if your medical person goes down? \n\n\n\nIn this hands-on class\, we will discuss the fundamentals of rider safety off road\, what to carry as a bare minimum\, preparing for an off-road trip or an overnight stay in the woods. We will learn how to recognize health emergencies and practice basic lifesaving/first aid skill s that everyone on your team should know. Lastly\, we will practice how and what to communicate to EMS personnel using different tools from GPS\, phones and more. \n\n\n\nWho is your instructor \n\n\n\n“Doc” Ken Hoffman\, DACM has spent 20 years in medical practice treating chronic illness and pain management. He is a certified Wilderness EMT and EMS Lieutenant for his local Volunteer Fire Department. He is a member of the Search and Rescue (SAR) team\, trained as a Swiftwater Rescue technician\, Ropes Rescue\, and other various SAR skills. In addition to responding to multiple backcountry and Swiftwater rescues on or near the Appalachian Trail each year\, he also organizes and is involved in Search and Rescue training for his department. \n\n\n\nHe is a Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid Instructor and holds memberships in the National Association for Search and Rescue and The Wilderness Medical Society. DESCRIPTION:    The details for October’s Central New England Motomarathon. The ride dates are October 2-5\, 2023. Monday through Thursday. Motomarathon were able to secure a ski lodge in the town of Chittenden\, VT. Chittenden is located between Rutland and Killington.  For those looking for more formal accommodations\, they have also secured alternate lodging at a Best Western\, which is conveniently located only four miles away from the lodge\, in Rutland\, VT. As always\, riders are welcome to find accommodations anywhere they would like.     Due to the unique situation of having the lodge\, and to help keep costs down\, they are offering a package deal for this event. This includes the registration fee\, lodging for five nights\, Sunday afternoon thru Friday morning\, as well as an informal welcome barbecue Sunday evening. Dinner for four nights\, a continental breakfast\, Monday thru Friday\, and a barbecue lunch. Total cost is $550. If you are staying elsewhere\, the standard registration fee is $100.       The lodge is similar to a hostel. It has eleven bunk rooms\, a finished third floor with additional beds\, a commercial kitchen\, a huge barn out back with a pool table\, foosball table\, and a TV Room. They will work to keep friends in the same room\, and also try to avoid using the top bunks. You are required to bring your own towel\, pillow\, and sleeping bag or linens.     They have to limit the riders staying at the lodge to forty\, to avoid overcrowding. They anticipate this will fill up quickly\, so if you plan on staying at the lodge\, please register ASAP.  If you have any questions\, please contact them directly via email\, or cell.  There will be a mandatory riders meeting at 7:00 PM\, Sunday\, October 1\, at the ski lodge. Routes will be handed out at that time for Monday’s ride. SUMMARY:BMW Riders Association Rally
DESCRIPTION:This year the venue is the Canaan Valley Resort in Davis\, West Virginia. \n\n\n\nOur first day September 14 is highway to get to the event location.  It is a little over 7 hours ride time\, plus stops for fuel\, breaks & food and about 425 miles.  We return via highway on Sept 17 with same duration.  On the 15th & 16th\, we’ll enjoy many of the great roads around the venue. \n\n\n\nBe sure to register at the BMWRA site for the rally.  Camping is available at the rally site and there are also hotel options nearby.

SUMMARY:Connecticut Lighthouse Tour
DESCRIPTION:There are 6 lighthouses accessible by road in Connecticut.  Today is a trip to visit all of them\, traversing the entire Connecticut coast.  We have lunch in Stonington CT at the end of the loop.  Our route takes advantage of highways to keep time reasonable with about 150 miles total distance over ~4 hours ride time.  We will start a bit early to allow some time at each lighthouse & breaks\, and still arrive in Stonington around lunch time. \n\n\n\nLunch will be at Breakwater with some great seafood & other food options. \n\n\n\nIf we slab back home the return is about 2 hours and ~110 miles. SUMMARY:Motorcyclepedia Museum
DESCRIPTION:In Newburgh there is a museum dedicated to motorcycles.  They have a model from every year of the original Indian 1901-1953 plus many others.  If you are into motorcycle history\, this is a great place to check out every few years as they have new exhibits. \n\n\n\nWe are pairing this with the Bikes & Breakfast event in Cold Spring.  That is also focused on old bikes\, but in riding condition.  We depart from Cold Spring at 11AM when the event winds down & then have about an hour ride to a lunch spot called Farm House Market in Cornwall NY on the other side of the Hudson.  From there it is <10 minute ride to the museum. \n\n\n\nThe route from Cold Spring is available on Rever.  The GPX is also available to download from Dropbox.

DESCRIPTION:WBMC is planning a (4) day ride in the Adirondacks in August using my brother Scott’s Airbnb farmhouse (shown below) as basecamp…  \n\n\n\nIt has (4) bed rooms with (2) sleep-able couches and a big backyard for tents …  and we another lodging option 15-20 minutes away… and there are other Airbnbs in the area\, etc. \n\n\n\nThe main farm house now looks to be booked full with (8) members responding in the affirmative. So\, will also use my small cabin which is approx 15-20 mins away. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s located remote from town\, so not walkable to restaurants…. The plan is to hang out at the end of the day around the campfire with some burgers.Or we could order some pizzas and bring them in Or ride to a multitude of restaurants 15 minutes or so away  \n\n\n\nIt’s in a very nice riding area that’s 70 miles from Lake Placid or Tupper Lake\, 20 miles from Lake George village\, 40 miles from the ferry to VT
