DESCRIPTION:WBMC is planning a (4) day ride in the Adirondacks in August using my brother Scott’s Airbnb farmhouse (shown below) as basecamp…  \n\n\n\nIt has (4) bed rooms with (2) sleep-able couches and a big backyard for tents …  and we another lodging option 15-20 minutes away… and there are other Airbnbs in the area\, etc. \n\n\n\nThe main farm house now looks to be booked full with (8) members responding in the affirmative. So\, will also use my small cabin which is approx 15-20 mins away. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s located remote from town\, so not walkable to restaurants…. The plan is to hang out at the end of the day around the campfire with some burgers.Or we could order some pizzas and bring them in Or ride to a multitude of restaurants 15 minutes or so away  \n\n\n\nIt’s in a very nice riding area that’s 70 miles from Lake Placid or Tupper Lake\, 20 miles from Lake George village\, 40 miles from the ferry to VT

Turnout is less in winter\, but even in 20F weather\, there are usually at least 10 bikes to show up. \n\n\n\nCold Starts located directly in Cold Spring has been sponsoring with coffee & snacks. They are a motorcycle specific clothing store located on the main drag. With the colder weather\, we may meet in the shop instead of at the Depot\, so if you don’t see anyone at the Depot\, try the shop up the street.

SUMMARY:BMWMOA Rally & MABDR
DESCRIPTION:Interested in getting your GS dirty\, but haven’t done dirt before?  The MABDR is the easiest Backcountry Discovery Route and one of 2 on the east coast.   \n\n\n\nAll in\, this trip covers at least 2100 miles (plus whatever day rides at the rally) passing thru 9 states (New York\, New Jersey\, Delaware\, Maryland\, Virginia\, North Carolina\, Tennessee\, West Virginia & Pennsylvania. \n\n\n\nWe head down to the BMW MOA Rally in Northeastern Virginia and then head to northern Tennessee with a lunch stop in North Carolina to camp the night before we start the MABDR in Damascus VA just across the Tennessee/Virgina border.  You should have knobby tires as recommended by the BDR to do this route.  The entire route for this trip is about 2000 miles\, so fresh tires prior to leaving is advised.  I am using Michelin Anakee Wilds.  With >2000 miles this trip takes a good option as TKC 80s are typically basically slicks by 3K & I get at least 4K on the Wilds rear. \n\n\n\nJune 8 ~360 miles slab to MOA rally \n\n\n\nJune 9 At the rally\, so any local riding miles \n\n\n\nJune 10 ~360 miles slab to camp at Switchback Creek near start of MABDR in northern Tennessee \n\n\n\nJune 11 ~145 miles for Segment 1\, staying at Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke VA (where Dirty Dancing was filmed)  \n\n\n\nJune 12 ~74 miles for Segment 2\, staying at Quality Inn Covington VA \n\n\n\nJune 13 ~182 miles for Segment 3\, camping at Riverside Cabins RV around Moorefield WV \n\n\n\nJune 14 ~142 miles for Segment 4\, camping at Antietam Creek Campground near Shepherdstown WV  \n\n\n\nJune 15 ~120 miles for Segment 5\, staying at Radisson Hotel Carlisle near Mt Holly Springs PA  \n\n\n\nJune 16 ~102 miles for Segment 6\, camping at Quiet Valley Campground near McVeytown PA \n\n\n\nJune 17 ~100 miles for Segment 7\, camping at Sunsational Family Campground near Millmont PA \n\n\n\nJune 18 ~115 miles for Segment 8\, camping at Pettecote Junction Campground near Cedar Run PA \n\n\n\nJune 19 ~75 miles for Segment 9\, then about 275 miles slab to head back home \n\n\n\nBe sure to register for the MOA rally if you are joining us there.   \n\n\n\nGPX files for the ride from MOA Rally to Switchback Creek campground (stopping in Greensboro\, NC for lunch) and each BDR segment are available via Dropbox. DESCRIPTION:This is a charity event to benefit the PKD Foundation – dedicated to funding research to cure Polycystic Kidney Disease.  A ~140 mile ride over the most scenic roads the area has to offer. DESCRIPTION:Caffeine & Carburetors is a gathering of automotive enthusiasts. We meet at Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee in New Canaan\, CT about 4 times year to enjoy our rides and share them with like-minded gear heads hiding in and around Connecticut and New York. \n\n\n\nWe have a tendency to lean toward sports cars\, with the occasional Model A or 1920′s Rolls Royce\, but our emphasis is on foreign sports cars. We enjoy all vehicles and there are no sponsorships or awards. \n\n\n\nDoug Zumbach began hosting these gatherings in 1995. These Sundays start around 8 am to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee followed by a leisurely drive through the countryside. \n\n\n\nCaffeine and Carburetors is a way to indulge the gear head in all of us. \n\n\n\nEvent schedule is always listed in the sidebar. SUMMARY:Berlin Lunch & Union Garage
DESCRIPTION:We head a bit further north to Berlin\, CT to grab lunch at Uncle D’s diner. Berlin\, Germany is of course where BMW motorcycles have been built since 1969\, moving from their original location in Munich to give more production capacity to their range of cars that were becoming more popular. At present all but the 300cc bikes are produced in Berlin.  \n\n\n\nFollowing lunch we had south to Bridgeport to visit Union Garage. Union Garage\, originally in Brooklyn\, NY has now moved up to Bridgeport CT. A selection of motorcycle gear is available along with some bikes on display. \n\n\n\nWe meet at 8:45AM at: \n\n\n\nCross River Dunkin Donuts20 N Salem RoadCross River\, NY \n\n\n\nKickstands up at 9AM as we head north.
