SUMMARY:GS Giants - Muddy Minuteman
DESCRIPTION:The Muddy Minuteman is a 33 hour adventure rally\, a 10 hour mini adventure and a rally all in one! \n\n\n\nThe 33 and 10 hr adventures are what the AMA considers a bonus hunt. Bonus locations will be spread throughout New England.   Each bonus location will have a point value; to collect the points riders will need to visit a location and perform a specific task such as take a photograph.  There is no set route.  Riders will receive a .GPX file of the bonus locations prior to the event. \n\n\n\nThere will be a 9hr period (Friday 21:00 to Saturday 06:00) were riders will not be allowed to collect points except for resting.  To maximize these points riders will need to set up a campsite and cook a meal; returning to camp for the night is also an option that will score points. \n\n\n\nWhile this event is designed for the large bike rider with some experience off pavement\, some bonus locations will be considered quite difficult to reach and will be noted as such in the rallybook.  Teams are highly recommended. \n\n\n\nFor the 33hr and 10hr rally the motorcycle must have a minimum engine displacement of 300cc.  Bikes will be split into classes based on displacement. \n\n\n\nThere will also be a self-guided easy adventure ride and some more challenging rides available via .GPX files for those that prefer to just ride\, baby ride and have a good time off the bike.  There are also miles of trails on site for those who simply wish to come hang out.  Dinner Thursday\, Friday and Saturday\, Breakfast Friday\, Saturday and Sunday.  Great riding both paved and dirt close by\, trails on site too.  Evening fun with fire. \n\n\n\nOur host is Camp Bobriwka in Colebrook\, Ct.   It is a fantastic spot for a rally on 350 very private acres with a dining hall\, bunk houses\, bathhouse and more.  Wonderful field camping with afternoon shade as well as dispersed camping by water.  This is the spot where Rock Lobster was to be held. \n\n\n\nRules and more information can be found here.

SUMMARY:Red Lion Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Berkshires are calling. The mountains of western Massachusetts and some of the finest roads for two wheels are part of our day ride to the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge Massachusetts. \nStockbridge was the location of Alice’s Restaurant in the song of the same name by Arlo Guthrie which describes the town as having “three stop signs\, two police officers and one police car. \nNorman Rockwell painted many of his works in Stockbridge\, which is now home to the Norman Rockwell Museum. \nAccording to tradition\, Silas Pepoon established a small tavern on the corner in 1773\, under the sign of the Red Lion. It was a welcome stop for stagecoaches traveling the dusty road between Albany and Boston. \nWith the arrival of the railroad in 1850\, Stockbridge developed as a summer resort for the wealthy of Boston and other major cities. Many large houses\, called Berkshire Cottages\, were built in the area before World War I. One estate on the Lenox border\, Tanglewood\, was adapted for use as the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. \nBy 1884\, the Red Lion Inn was known as the Stockbridge House and had been enlarged to accommodate 100 guests. The summer hotel\, open from May through October\, was one of several rambling wooden hostelries in the Berkshires. More additions were made in 1892 and 1894\, but a fire destroyed the entire building on August 31\, 1896. \nMiraculously\, the rebuilt hotel opened the following May 1897. The building was virtually unchanged until the early ‘60s when private baths were added in the South Wing and a swimming pool was installed. \nThe Inn is still an active hotel\, but has numerous restaurants including an outdoor courtyard where we plan to have lunch. \nOur route uses highways to the northern part Connecticut and then we hit the fun back roads into the eastern parts of the Berkshire mountains before we head west to Stockbridge for lunch at the Red Lion Inn. \nSunday July 10th is our date for the trip \n8:45AM Meet at Dunkin’ Donuts Cross River20 N Salem RoadCross River NY \n9:00am depart Dunkin’ Donuts Cross River \n~10:15 Arrive at first fuel stop. First leg is slab on highway of about 74 miles to Winsted CT \n~10:30 depart fuel stop \n~12:40 Arrive Red Lion Inn after ~73 miles of some great twisty roads \nAfter lunch we can explore the Inn and Stockbridge for a bit before we head south 7 miles to Great Barrington where there are several fuel options. You can either take backroads like 22 back down or head a bit further west and grab the Taconic with roughly 2 hour travel time to return. \nAssumption is we wrap up lunch and exploring the town around 3PM. Figure 15 minutes for fuel stop and about 2 hours to get back home means arrival at home around 5:15PM \nRoutes for ride \nThe route to the Inn is split into two legs.  The first leg brings us to the fuel stop and is mostly highway.  The second leg is when we hit the fun roads.  The GPX file is a track to ensure maximum compatibility with your GPS.  You can convert it to a route in your GPS and also display the track to confirm you are directed correctly.  The Rever routes are also split into 2 legs in the same way. \nGPX of Leg 1 \nGPX of Leg 2 \nRever of Leg 1 \nRever of Leg 2

SUMMARY:Pining for Pennsylvania
DESCRIPTION:Central PA is home to the Ridge and Valley Appalachians and the Appalachian Plateau. This unique geologic region has hills that appear as a s-curve across the state and the roads have had to adapt to the natural terrain resulting in some of the best roads in the Northeast. What better way to enjoy them than loading up some camping gear and mounting your German steel steed for a 4 day weekend trip? \nOur base camp is the Steel Steeds Campground located directly on the west branch of the Susquehanna River that caters to motorcyclists. If tent camping isn’t your thing\, don’t fret\, they have cabins as well as RVs you can rent. \nPlenty of eating options as Lewisburg is just on the other side of the river and has many restaurants just a 5 minute ride away. Or the Susquehanna smokehouse is walking distance\, just next door for dinner. Firewood is available if you want to cook by the fire. \nWe are centrally located to any areas you may want to explore. Pennsylvania Dutch area is a bit south east near Lancaster. You can visit the Harley Davidson factory in York PA in about 3 hours roughly due south. Want to relive the scenes from the tv show The Office? Scranton is about 2 hours north east. Less than an hour away is Centralia\, famous for the underground coal fires that forced the town to be abandoned along with the graffiti highway. And if you want to see an eclectic collection of bikes\, Bill’s Bike Barn is half an hour away. \nAnd if you want roads\, we are smack in the middle of a ton of G1\, G2 and G3 roads from Butler maps. \nRates range from ~$10/night for tent space to ~$65/night for cabins and up to ~$105/night for a large RV\, so there is something for every budget. \nPlease RSVP here and make reservations for your accommodations at https://www.steelsteedscamp.com. \nRoute details \nWe have a few routes planned out at the site in 3 different lengths ranging from about 90 minutes to 8 hours total ride time so you can pick whichever works for you each day or make your own.  Routes are available both as GPX files that can be loaded into most any GPS and a Rever route that can be followed directly in the app: \n\nA quick side trip over to Bill’s Old Bike Barn via some twisty roads takes about 90 minutes to cover ~45 miles.  GPX FileRever route\nFun roads Option #1 takes a north east loop with a 4 hour first loop covering about 130 miles to first fuel stop and lunch in Williamsport. The return leg is about 1:45minutes covering ~55 miles\, for a total day of about 185 miles and just under 6 hours ridingGPX Outbound (before lunch)GPX Return (after lunch)Rever route outbound (Before lunch)Rever route return (after lunch)\nFun roads Option #2 takes a south west leg with a 4:20 leg covering about 120 miles to lunch in State College. We have another long leg to return with about 3:45 covering about 105 miles to return for a total day of about 8 hours total riding and 225 milesGPX outbound (before lunch)GPX Return (after lunch)Rever route outbound (before lunch)Rever route return (after lunch)\n\nRide out \nThe campground is ~215 miles by highway from Westchester.  As we have members from all over Westchester and the surrounding areas\, we won’t have a single group ride out\, but allow everyone to plan their own best way and ride out with others near them.   \nI’ll likely ride out with some twisty roads for the first part of the day and then highway to bypass Scranton et al and stop for food & fuel opportunistically.  Others are welcome to join me\, please reach out to Niels if interested. \n

SUMMARY:Litchfield Jail Run
DESCRIPTION:Go directly to Jail Do not pass GO\, do not collect $200. This ride takes us to the Litchfield County Jail. The oldest building in the town\, it was built in 1812 and had a capacity of 120 prisoners. When Connecticut eliminated County government in 1960\, the state took over the jail. It ceased operating as a prison in 1993 and was sold to private investors in 2013. \nLooking to develop the site\, plans emerged to combine it with some nearby buildings and as construction came to a close in late 2018\, the building had been converted to four luxury residential apartments\, two financial advisory firms\, a bakery\, several boutiques\, and a popular restaurant. \nThe restaurant named the Market Place Tavern is our destination for this ride. Featuring options like the Jailhouse Burger\, fish & chips & even Tavern Truffed Mac & Cheese\, it should be a great meal to go with the 3 hour meandering route we have planned to get there. \nSunday June 5th \n8:45AM Meet at Dunkin’ Donuts Cross River20 N Salem RoadCross River NY \n9:00AM Depart from Dunkin’ Donuts Cross River \n12:15PM Arrive at restaurant in Litchfield after a nice 108 mile meandering route. \nThere are a few gas stations down the street from the restaurant to refuel the bike after lunch. \nRoutes for the ride \nRoutes are available as a GPX file of the track to ensure most compatibility with your GPS.  You can convert the track into a route on your GPS and display the track as well to confirm accurate routing. \nGPX file \nRever route

SUMMARY:Distinguished Gentleman's Ride - Rhinebeck
DESCRIPTION:The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage style motorcycle riders all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. \n\n\n\nThe Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney\, Australia\, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives. \n\n\n\nGathering at the staging area at the fairgrounds begins at 9:00AM. The ride itself is due to begin at ~10:30AM. It is good to arrive earlier so you can look at some of the bikes\, but they will also sort you into groups of related bikes. \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend on your own classic bike\, please consider donating in support of one of our riders.

SUMMARY:Ferries Bypass Day Off
DESCRIPTION:“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while\, you could miss it.” \n\n\n\nDo you have bypass ferries enabled on your GPS?  You probably default to taking a bridge to cross rivers or waterways\, but ferries can be a great way to slow down and look around for a bit.   \n\n\n\nSave Ferries \n\n\n\nDue to their low traffic and relative cost to operate\, ferries are in danger of being closed.  There are still 2 operating ferries on the Connecticut River.  Both the ferries we’ll travel on today were nearly closed by the state on August 25\, 2011 as part of the state budget cuts. The move to close the ferry was widely unpopular in surrounding towns and grassroots efforts began to save the ferry. The state government rescinded its decision to close ferry service\, and hence\, it continues to run.   \n\n\n\nSlowing down for a bit and riding on the ferry is one of the ways we can help save them & learn why they are such a unique experience. \n\n\n\nChester-Hadlyme Ferry \n\n\n\nThe first one we’ll use is the newest one still in operation\, the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry.  Beginning operation in 1769 it was originally known as Warner’s Ferry. Jonathan Warner of Chester owned land on both sides of the river and started the ferry service utilizing a raft propelled using a nail and long poles. \n\n\n\nRocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry \n\n\n\nOur second ferry crossing is the oldest continuously running ferry service in the United States.  Started in 1655 it actually began before the formation of the towns for which it is currently named. \n\n\n\nRoutes for the ride \n\n\n\nRoutes are available below. Both as a GPX and on Rever. Please note the GPX is a track to ensure best compatibility with your GPS. You can convert it to a route within your GPS and display the track to ensure your turn by turn is matching the intended route. \n\n\n\nGPX of route \n\n\n\nRever route
