SUMMARY:BMWMOA Rally & MABDR
DESCRIPTION:Interested in getting your GS dirty\, but haven’t done dirt before?  The MABDR is the easiest Backcountry Discovery Route and one of 2 on the east coast.   \n\n\n\nAll in\, this trip covers at least 2100 miles (plus whatever day rides at the rally) passing thru 9 states (New York\, New Jersey\, Delaware\, Maryland\, Virginia\, North Carolina\, Tennessee\, West Virginia & Pennsylvania. \n\n\n\nWe head down to the BMW MOA Rally in Northeastern Virginia and then head to northern Tennessee with a lunch stop in North Carolina to camp the night before we start the MABDR in Damascus VA just across the Tennessee/Virgina border.  You should have knobby tires as recommended by the BDR to do this route.  The entire route for this trip is about 2000 miles\, so fresh tires prior to leaving is advised.  I am using Michelin Anakee Wilds.  With >2000 miles this trip takes a good option as TKC 80s are typically basically slicks by 3K & I get at least 4K on the Wilds rear. \n\n\n\nJune 8 ~360 miles slab to MOA rally \n\n\n\nJune 9 At the rally\, so any local riding miles \n\n\n\nJune 10 ~360 miles slab to camp at Switchback Creek near start of MABDR in northern Tennessee \n\n\n\nJune 11 ~145 miles for Segment 1\, staying at Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke VA (where Dirty Dancing was filmed)  \n\n\n\nJune 12 ~74 miles for Segment 2\, staying at Quality Inn Covington VA \n\n\n\nJune 13 ~182 miles for Segment 3\, camping at Riverside Cabins RV around Moorefield WV \n\n\n\nJune 14 ~142 miles for Segment 4\, camping at Antietam Creek Campground near Shepherdstown WV  \n\n\n\nJune 15 ~120 miles for Segment 5\, staying at Radisson Hotel Carlisle near Mt Holly Springs PA  \n\n\n\nJune 16 ~102 miles for Segment 6\, camping at Quiet Valley Campground near McVeytown PA \n\n\n\nJune 17 ~100 miles for Segment 7\, camping at Sunsational Family Campground near Millmont PA \n\n\n\nJune 18 ~115 miles for Segment 8\, camping at Pettecote Junction Campground near Cedar Run PA \n\n\n\nJune 19 ~75 miles for Segment 9\, then about 275 miles slab to head back home \n\n\n\nBe sure to register for the MOA rally if you are joining us there.   \n\n\n\nGPX files for the ride from MOA Rally to Switchback Creek campground (stopping in Greensboro\, NC for lunch) and each BDR segment are available via Dropbox.  The ride to Switchback is also on Rever. DESCRIPTION:The 2023 rally will take place in Doswell\, Virginia.  It is 4 days to gather with your BMW friends at the largest annual BMW Motorcycle rally in the country.  Camping is available on site & there are hotels available nearby. DESCRIPTION:The idea behind the B&B gathering was to allow vintage and classic motorcycle enthusiasts to show their prized possessions; however\, as we have grown\, we encourage all motorcycle enthusiasts to bring their prized possession and story share with all. Enjoy some great breakfast\, as all are welcome to come out. \n\n\n\nMeeting the 3rd Sunday of every month in Cold Spring NY\, Bikes & Breakfast is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a quaint town & see some vintage motorcycles. Turnout is less in winter\, but even in 20F weather\, there are usually at least 10 bikes to show up. \n\n\n\nCold Starts located directly in Cold Spring has been sponsoring with coffee & snacks. They are a motorcycle specific clothing store located on the main drag. With the colder weather\, we may meet in the shop instead of at the Depot\, so if you don’t see anyone at the Depot\, try the shop up the street.

DESCRIPTION:Lunch run to Sharon CT.  We have a nice meandering route leading us from Cross River to Sharon CT over about 3 hours ride time.   \n\n\n\nDepart from Cross River Dunkin’ Donuts at 9AM.  Meet at 8:45AM. \n\n\n\nThe route to the restaurant is available on https://go.rever.co/QCMLHmqTGzb.  From there you can download a GPX for a Garmin or other GPS.
