June 8 @ 8:00 am June 19 @ 5:00 pm EDT

Interested in getting your GS dirty, but haven’t done dirt before? The MABDR is the easiest Backcountry Discovery Route and one of 2 on the east coast. We head down to the BMW MOA Rally in Northeastern Virginia and then head to southwestern VA to start the MABDR.

You should have knobby tires as recommended by the BDR to do this route. The entire route for this trip is about 2000 miles, so fresh tires prior to leaving is advised.

June 8 ~360 miles slab to MOA rally

June 9 At the rally, so any local riding miles

June 10 ~335 miles slab to start of MABDR (several hotel & camping options there)

June 11 ~145 miles for Segment 1, staying at Mountain Lake Lodge (where Dirty Dancing was filmed)

June 12 ~70 miles for Segment 2, staying in Covington VA (both hotel & camping options)

June 13 ~190 miles for Segment 3, staying around Moorefield WV (both hotel & camping options)

June 14 ~145 miles for Segment 4, staying around Shepherdstown WV (both hotel & camping options)

June 15 ~120 miles for Segment 5, staying around Mt Holly Springs PA (some hotels nearby)

June 16 ~105 miles for Segment 6, camping near McVeytown PA (I didn’t look for hotels as it is mostly middle of nowhere)

June 17 ~100 miles for Segment 7, staying around Hartleton PA (both hotel & camping options)

June 18 ~115 miles for Segment 8, staying around Cedar Run PA (both hotel & camping options)

June 19 ~75 miles for Segment 9, then about 270 miles slab to head back home

Further details along with suggested venues for lodging each day will be added as we get closer. Be sure to register for the MOA rally if you are joining us there.
